This time from the fan forum at: The Final Turn.

• There are horse films and there are racetrack films. IMHO Boots Malone with William Holden was the best racetrack film. It was gritty and realistic, with none of the hollywood fairy tale acts of god that ruin so many horse racing based movies.

• ...it's dark and not a comedy...The Rocking Horse Winner.

• I have two favorite horse films: Phar Lap and Champions (the story of steeplechaser Aldanati & his jockey Bob Champion). I would highly recommend both.

• Riding High. In this 1950 Frank Capra directed musical remake of Capra's previous film, "Broadway Bill", Bing Crosby stars along with an unbelieveable supporting cast of characters....Look for a hilarious cameo by Oliver Hardy, filmed not long before his death...You really understand the love of horses and being a horseplayer.

• April's Fool. The acting is fantastic, even the extras!

• Favorite by far is Kentucky (1938 classic with Walter Brennan).

• The Longshot. Good cast, bad movie. No energy at all. Just sits there.

• Let It Ride is hands down the best I have seen...I aint a movie type person. But, Let It Ride rocks!

• International Velvet. Yuck... absolute trash ... even the actors knew they were making a bad film.

• I like International Velvet. (but then I'm odd, I can't stand Let It Ride).

• I'm also not a fan of Let It Ride. It was on ESPN classic a few months ago and I tried to watch it but gave up after a half hour. Richard Dreyfuss is incredibly annoying.

• Ready to Run. I guess it was sweet in its sickening, overdone way...Maybe it's for the 10 and under crowd.
