A disappointing end to 2003. As predicted it was an ultra-competitive card -- which means a day like we experienced was possible. Pretty much nada for us. We did have one winner on top in seven races (Fair Grounds, $9.60) -- although it was a move-up top pick after a scratch so we didn't have any wagers onboard. Ugly afternoon. But that just means we can only go up as we begin 2004!

Nothing Flat...Zito trainee occasionally shows some life and distance might suit today.

New Economy...Ran a decent race in the My Charmer last year then won this race in his next start. Similar setup this year except he won the My Charmer last time.
Spice Island...On the improve and has shown an affinity for the trip.
Sixty Seconds...2-2 since arriving stateside in barn of Clement. Off since G3 stakes win at Saratoga but trainer is OK off the layoff.

Secret Request...Likes the track and might be rounding to form at two turns. Should be closer early than he was last time.
Redoubled Miss...Another that likes Calder. Comes in off of four straight second-place finishes .
