1-11. Yeesh - feeling pretty good yesterday when talking about the possibility of hitting the 120-mark, or a three win per day total, by the end of the season, and then we toss the anemic one-fer. It was that kind of day however. There was nothing especially crazy - and, in fact, all of the day's winners except for the opener were in our mix. It just would have been difficult to make a case for too many of them on top.
Winner in the 4th [$10.20]. And, even though we were light on winners-on-top, the selection provided some punch, sometimes requiring going 4-deep, but the prices warranted it, if only as a defensive play in some races.
In R2 C-D-B for exacta [$141.50/$2] and tri [$782.00]. A reverse B-A exacta in the 3rd [$50.50]. In R4, A-B-D for the cold exacta [$32.40] and a tri [$100.00]. In R7 a C-B exacta [$33.40]. In R9 D-A [$22.60]. If you were looking for an upset in the featured G1 Personal Ensign you might have grabbed out D-A-C-B finish for the exacta [$47.60], tri [$130.50] and super [$328.50].
19,181 turned out for the 'day after'. Weather continued warm and sunny - humidity was up slightly.
RACE ONE
Rose for Romney... Has some win-early nature and nuture with Hard Spun and Albertrani. Sib Keiko broke maiden in second career start on this track last year.
Bit Bustin... Sire of to an OK start. Dam doesn't produce precociousness however.
Uncaged Heart...Decent debut looks like one to build on.
Carla Sweetrevenge.
Mononoke.
RACE TWO
Counterparty...Pletcher trainee seems primed to run well here.
Federation...Those numbers fired at Tampa will be god enough to take this - and a rebound to those isn't out of the question.
Prize Catch...Good try in a similar event last time.
Arch Support.
RACE THREE $100K Aristie
Agilion...Lived yup to our top billing in the debut. Looks capable of continuing on against this bunch.
Effie Trinket...Also solid in first-out win - but it was on the slop, needs to prove it on a fast track, but wouldn't be a surprise.
Zekes Surprise...Most experienced in the field. Improved nicely to win second start.
My Smartness.
RACE FOUR
Wilcat Aly...Picks up Dominguez for SAR start and should appreciate the class drop.
Victoria Lynn...Also finding class relief.
Henny's Hurricane...And still another moving down for this.
Magnificient Mia.
RACE FIVE
Let's Have Us One... Hoping the class relief does the trick - combined with Asmussen second-time out. Have to go back aways to find something from the dam but sib Secrets Galore was a debut winner - in 2004.
O'Frederica...The potent MW to mdn clm move.
One More Cat...Also in for a tag today.
Candy Raider.
RACE SIX
English Major...In for a tag today and cuts back to a more suitable distance.
Parachute Coney...Back in for a tag - and he won last two times he was in a clm'r.
Vee One Rotate...Class relief.
see Me Proud.
RACE SEVEN
Jane of All Trades...AE. Nice improvement shown with move to turf.
Indian Splendor...AE. Could be tough if able to flash speed again.
Brief Reign...Interesting firster with City Zip on top.
Sensational Appeal.
Speaking Role.
Neon Moon.
RACE EIGHT
Shot Rock...Should benefit from debut.
Comandante...Also put in a useful effort in first start.
Saturday Appeal...Could prove interesting first time out.
Western Grit.
RACE NINE $100K Saratoga Dew
Opus A...Seems to have a slight edge on this bunch and might take them all the way.
Harbor Mist...Might try to run with the top pick.
Great Gracie Dame...Goes turf-to-dirt.
Go Unbridled.
RACE TEN
Filberto...Not much info on the dam but we'll hang our hat on precocious sire Songandaprayer.
Miss Suwanee...Improved on turf earlier this year.
Stellabymoonlight...Also has appreciated the grass.
Loud Pipes.
