3-10. Ahh, that's more like it! After that wacky oh-fer Sat-Mon period with winners-on-top - while our second picks were winning by the boatload - the train is back on the tracks with three winners-on-top on both Wed and Thurs, and a solid ROI in that category both days.
Winners in the 1st [$9.80], 7th [$13.00], and 8th [$4.90]. Top two reversed in the 3rd for the exacta [$14.20/$2]. Top pick over third selection for exactas in the 7th [$52.00] and 8th [$13.00], with our fourth pick completing the tri in that 7th [$135.50]. In the 2nd the second and third choices comprised the exacta [$21.40] and fourth pick made the tri [$77.00].
After early meet attendance numbers that seemed a little light - the crowds have returned with the turn of the calendar page last week. Another solid mid-week crowd of 18,965. And it was a 'Chamber of Commerce' day weather-wise: sunny and comfortable.
FIRST RACE
Power King... Has been racing well since second start of the year. Claimed twice in that period - including last time and Levine is OK first-time off the claim.
Successful Score...Fits well at this level and has a (2010) win over the track.
Cave's Valley...Showed promise early on winning a couple of minor stakes as a 2YO. Beyers indicate he might be going in the wrong direction - or perhaps he'll wake-up on the drop while making third start of 2011.
Quiet All American.
SECOND RACE
Glacier Bay...Seems in good form. Won for this tag two back. Best lifetime race could have been a win here last summer.
Almoradi....Class relief.
City Sneakers...Speed from the rail and likes this track.
Sciacca entry.
THIRD RACE
Miss Caterina...Breeding is Ok - although dam's offspring haven't necessarily been precocious. Connections earn her a slight nod.
Hard Mystery...Again, the breeding is... OK for a debut runner, but the trainer can have them ready.
Smokin' Alice...Breeding gets a little more interesting here and this one might better this rating. Dam has produced at least one first-out winner.
FOURTH RACE
Aquifolia...Race has a look of one where a 'fresh face' might prove interesting. We landed here - with trepidation. The dam hasn't done much - and as the dam is a full-sib to a Group winner in Europe, maybe this one will be better on turf? Hmmm.
Senora Dubai...Has been showing steady improvement.
Molls Alley...Dam has produced at least one first-out winner.
Inner Truth.
FIFTH RACE
Settling Seas...Good win for this tag last time.
Ms Stilleto...Also had a good win at about this level last time.
Starsilhouette...In good form and fits with these.
Floating alone.
SIXTH RACE
Rothko...Could prove interesting in the third start for Asmussen while cutting back in distance.
Soultown...The one to beat if he takes to dirt.
Sea Song's Hammer///Took the lead late last time and got caught.
Deed It Is.
SEVENTH RACE - Hall of Fame G2 $150K
Big Blue Kitten...On a four-race win-streak.
Street Game...More suited to today's distance.
Humble and Hungry...Also trifecta miss was in the BC.
Crimson China.
Rustler Hustler.
EIGHTH RACE
Retire to What...Tends to fade but might prove interesting in first start for Tony Dutrow.
Bear Heart...A confirmed turf sprinter finding a little bit of class relief.
System Restore...Might have too much to do in the lane.
Coronation Day.
NINTH RACE
English Ivy...Wake-up call on the class drop?
Hoopskirt...Will be heard from in the lane.
Rajadesaminaux...MSW to mdn clm'r but must get in from AE list.
Lemme.
Roses for the Star.
