4-10. Winners in the 2nd [$29.60], 4th [$14.60], 6th [$5.10] and 8th [$2.60]. Cold exacta in the 6th [$25.80/$2].
Annnounced attendance was 40,974. Since it was hat giveaway day those numbers were inflated by 'spinners' going through the gate multiple times to take advantage of the giveaway. True attendance - just taken by the ol' eyeball method - seemed light, particularly since it seemed as though fans had gotten the wake-up call on Saturday when over 30k attended. Those who did turn out enjoyed yet another nice day weather-wise. Sunny and hot.
Jockeys vs Philadelphia Orchestra Charity Softball Game at the East Side Rec Field on Lake Avenue at 7pm.
FIRST RACE
Chickatari...Lightly-raced and showed improvement in first start for Dutrow. Moves up slightly but sitll fits.
Moshe Diane...Always interesting in the move from state-bred alw into open clm'r.
Belle Muse...We get a class check BEL vs CD as this one was third in Ky at this level last time out.
Weak Dollar Policy.
SECOND RACE
Legally Blanca...Tony Dutrow is high-percentage overall - but also high-ercentage in all the pertinent categories. Nice improvement start #1 to start #2 of 2011. Makes third start back today.
Karakorum Elektra...Turf sprinting at SAR for Linda Rice.
Quebrada Shiner...Nice win sprinting on grass last time out in a small stake at BEL.
Strike the Bell.
THIRD RACE
Atitlan...Should be able to build off of the just-miss in the seasonal debut.
Windafull...Like the top pick - lightly-raced and coming off of a near-miss.
Fast Grievance...Numbers seem to indicate he'll contend - but this is a class move up.
Knock Quietly.
On dirt: This Hard Land, Atitlan, Windafull, Nykid Time to Jazz.
FOURTH RACE
Parcel...MSW to mdn clm'r. Looks like they're shopping for a winning spot.
Halefellow Wellmet...Same scenario for this Team Valor/Motion runner.
Thomas is Rockin...While this already has shown improvement with the move in for a tag.
East Indies.
On dirt: Play It Smart, Willy Pay, Thomas is Rockin, Pure Craft, Gypsy Warrior.
FIFTH RACE
Counterparty...A repeat of the big debut win takes this.
Champagne Run...Got some education at the level last time and should go well.
Bid A Moon...Maiden-breaking effort makes her a contender here.
Lady Jadana.
SIXTH RACE
Diceman...Has a little bit of breeding that could prove interesting here.
Angel Ray...Again - the breeding interests.
All Class...Showed speed last time on the dirt - if able to repeat that tactic on the grass he could contend.
Jaded Lover.
On dirt: Mr Ames, All Class, Diceman, Pegasus Papou.
SEVENTH RACE
Katy Now...Plenty of speed and the trainer is going well.
Buckleupbuttercup...Nine times in the money in eleven starts.
Decelerator...Hard to peg but when she's in the mood she can run.
Lisa's Bobby Trap.
EIGHTH RACE
Justin Philip...Seemed to turn the corner last time and is in top form now.
Wine Police...Impressed here in maiden-breaker last year. Third in G1 Hopeful - then laid-off until June when he came back with her running shoes on. Interesting.
Travelin Man...Might appreciate the Saratoga oval.
To Honor and Serve.
NINTH RACE
Spa City Lover...Wes Ward sprinter comes back after almost a year on the bench - but gets serious class-relief.
By M K...Has run well against better.
Salt Water Lullaby...Another that should appreciate the company at this level.
Obabyobeyme.
