1-10. Winner in the 3rd [$2.60]. Cold exacta in the 3rd [$5.90/$2].Top two flip-flopped in the 10th for the exacta [$19.60]. A few more gimmicks if you dipped into the selections slightly.
12,791 attended and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon - that included a track record by 2YO JCs Pride as well as an eye-popping performance in the featured G2 Lake George from Winter Memories.
Later on a pretty good crowd enjoyed a spirited game of basketball for charity between the jockeys and the horsemen at the nearby Saratoga Rec Center. The horsemen won, 51-44, but the game was actually closer than the score might indicate - with the jocks making a run at the end that only needed a couple of shots to go down to take it to the wire.
FIRST RACE
Demonstrative...Stakes winner last time.
Fisher entry...Both halves look capable.
Italian Wedding...Another that has been competing in stakes recently. Good third in this race last year.
Kingsley entry.
SECOND RACE
Stormandaprayer...High early speed.
Ha Ha Tonka...Lightly-raced and improving Beyers.
Bwana Babe...Also likes to go to the front - just not sure she's as fast as the top pick.
THIRD RACE
Malibu Artiste...Really an iffy selection. Going by the figs she's clearly the one to beat - but going by my gut, looking at the drop of the claim almost three months ago, well...
Spina...Dropping while shopping for a winning spot in Saratoga?
Lady of the Forest...Uncoupled barnmate of Spina is also dropping off of her latest - but seems suited to this level from previous starts.
Winners Get Even.
FOURTH RACE
Exhi...Could be tough to reel in late.
Loup Breton...Uncoupled barnamte of top pick has been facing top company.
Boots Ahead...Seems to contend more often than not.
Pocket Cowboys.
FIFTH RACE
Crazy Party...Precocious breeding.
La Capella...Also has some win-early breeding.
Formative...Another that wouldn't surprise based on breeding.
Honey Talk.
On dirt: Same as above plus Salsa Mambo.
SIXTH RACE
Best Act...Made the potent move from MSW to mdn clm last time - ran OK but might move forward in second start for a tag.
Dodging...Logical contender of the nice improving Beyers.
Dynamite Dude...Like the top pick might improve in seconf start for a tag.
Shoutout.
Bundestag.
On dirt: Best Act, Moreno Star, Research Report, Cold Precision, Dallaglio, Mystical Terp.
SEVENTH RACE - Quick Call $75K
Higher Court...High speed and he should benefit from the cutback.
Fudgesicle...Also has early speed and just missed in first turf sprint attempt.
Fastest Magician...Hard to pin down but capable on best.
Great Mills.
On dirt: Same, plus Royal Currier.
EIGHTH RACE
Isn't She Grand...The one to catch.
Full of Gut...Another that should be prominent throughout.
Taconic Victory...Been right there in all 2011 starts.
Lots of Stones.
NINTH RACE
Kinda Spicy...Solid debut. Could be any kind.
Gypsy Gold...OK try in the G1 Mother Goose.
So Much Love...Has yet to miss the exacta.
/believe in AP.
TENTH RACE
Overseas Market..Might appreciate the grass.
Spa Sunrise...Gets some class relief and might be hard to catch.
Watkins Glen...First time for a tag.
Moon Struck Nemi.
On dirt: Same plus Backslash.
