Travers Eve Party. Downtown, along Broadway. 7 -10 pm.
FIRST RACE - Vic Zeigel Mem $70K
Driven by Success...Solid against open company and very tough vs state-breds.
Groomedforvictory...Just missed last time despite trouble. Cuts back to a sprint.
Uncle T Seven...Lightly-raced this year. Comes out of a near-miss in a turf stake.
Make Note.
SECOND RACE
Roderick...Looks like the light bulb turned on last time - but there is a question mark if that win was aided by the slop. We'll find out today.
Steal the Shot...Barn could be looking to close out the meet with style after two wins on Thursday.
Reading Group...Lifetime best Beyer last time when just missing here in a similar event.
One Turn Eddie.
THIRD RACE
Honour the Deputy...Kind of a quirky race - so we'll lean in the direction of the 'fresh face'. Sneaks in from beantown with some precocious breeding for a successful outfit.
Grand Strategy...They paid a lot of money for this guy last year. Hasn't lived up to expectations and is eligible to wake-up with the move to claiming ranks.
Megaholtz...Actually finished first two back - but was DQ'd. So, we have a MSW 'winner' facing mdn clm'rs. Dangerous - however the dud last time is a concern.
Pawleys Porch.
Deadly Catch.
FOURTH RACE - Pleasant Colony $75K
Modern Cowboy...We're flying off the radar a bit here. The two logical plays in here - Trickmeister and Our Dark Knight - but possess early speed. Let's hope a duel sets things up for this guy.
Trickmeister...Undefeated - but all have been at Delaware which can be a quirky surface. The one to beat but might face early pressure from Our Dark Knight.
Our Dark Knight...Will have to contend with Trickmeister early - and jock is in a little bit of a funk at the meet.
Regal Warrior.
FIFTH RACE
Erma Lee...Should benefit from the education garnered in the near-miss debut effort.
Excited...Well-bred runner from the potent Tabor/Pletcher/Velazquez team.
Tiz My Time...9-5 fave on the ML and will likely take action off of the third vs twenty-two finish across the pond - but still an unknown quantity around two turns.
System Ready.
Mirimichi Babe.
SIXTH RACE
Stealth Missile...Looking at the last two as poor performances due to the off tracks - and hoping for a rebound to prior good form on 'fast' going.
Billy Bear...Should appreciate return to dirt.
Tall Poppi...Last indicates he might be well-spotted at this level.
Not for Money.
Rises the Phoenix.
SEVENTH RACE
Upgrade...Took awhile to break his maiden - but all efforts this year have been good. Might be sneaky in this condition and perhaps have a little bit of a class edge on these.
Risque...Lifetime best Beyer in 4YO debut.
Double Eagle...Third in a similar race last time.
Ground Frost.
EIGHTH RACE
Counterspy...Could be primed in second start back.
Scorper...AE list. Has some closing punch.
Jockey Ridge...Third start of 2010.
Overlap.
Hear the Footsteps.
Follia.
Spanish Fortune.
NINTH RACE - Baruch Hcp G2 $200K
Radical Sabbatical...This race should be interesting. Track was playing to speed until rains hit earlier this week. Still, Get Stormy will be the one to catch. This one could have been up against the scenario last time and things might be more favorable today. Bullet work last week seems to indicate he'll sit a good stalking position.
Whatsthescript...Should be coming late and another that might do better over the course today as opposed to earlier in the meet.
Get Stormy...Might be foolhardy not ranking this one higher. Still looks to have a pace advantage - and there was a wire-to-wire winner on the turf here Thursday despite the 'watering' the course took. Perhaps National Kid will go with this one - and if that one scratches it could be lights out. But more than anything what stood out in this 'play against' was the fact that this guy is untested at 9F. We'll see...
Baletti.
TENTH RACE
Cougar At Heart...Not many opportunities to find a Sheppard Special at this meet. This one looks promising - with some interesting breeding, a race under her belt and a bullet in the holster.
Brampton...Nice try in debut.
Bronzed...Bred to go well early.
Fandangle.
Inspired.
Lady Chesterfield.
