The place was jumpin' with 30,852 in attendance for the coronation of the 3YO filly champ -- well, that's perhaps premature, but Blind Luck would seem to have a stranglehold on the award unless something wacky happens. Weather-wise it was a mix of hazy sun/overcast with comfortable temps.
Free umbrella with each paid admission while supplies last.
FIRST RACE
Vicarious...'The Chief' has yet to win one at the meet but this gal is interesting - back in six days off of a turf route. Now heads to the main and cuts to a sprint. Hmm.
Rumors of Glory/Under the Rainbow...Both halves of entry should be prominent early.
Laylaben...Enough speed that she should be heard from late.
Team Plan.
SECOND RACE
Scale...Drop and return to dirt should prove beneficial.
Rotten to the Core/Smooth Transition...Rotten comes out of what looks like a key race. Smooth should be tighter for this.
Jim's Applemartini...Two nice improved efforts since the return. Just broke maiden but this isn't much of a move upward.
Bricklayer.
THIRD RACE
WW Lady's Man...Could take them all the way.
Kid Tornado...Should be finding some class relief here.
Hillswick...Speed and caught in comeback. That was against slightly cheaper.
Broken Home.
FOURTH RACE - Lake Placid G3 $150K
Check the Label...9-5-2-0 turf record including three straight graded stakes wins coming into this.
Exclusive Love...Marked improvement since moving to grass.
No Explaining...Euro-import has been solid since arriving stateside.
Triple Cream.
FIFTH RACE
Hear the Footsteps...Finally got the win after knocking on the door - and might be ready to move through this level in first try.
Quick Money...Meanwhile this one flopped in first try at N1X. Have to believe he's better than that last one however.
Midnight Mass...Another one that might benefit from the education at this level last time.
Fiddler's Chaparito.
On dirt: Quick Money, Fight for VLTs, Aces Mark, Fiddler's Chaparito, Zone Breaker.
SIXTH RACE
Belo Sorte...Should be properly placed for this price.
Rocketing Returns...Usually in the hunt and capable of taking it all on best effort.
Accredit...This guy finds some serious class relief in here and could run away with this if able to recapture top form - or close to it.
Samhoon.
SEVENTH RACE
Lion Knight...A little bit of precocious breeding.
I Waited Patiently...Also has some win-early breeding - and a trainer on a hot-streak.
Linear Motion/Take a Walk...Owner likes to win at the meet - and gets it done often with juvies.
Disco Capote.
EIGHTH RACE
Big Push...Cuts back off of a two-turn event at Delaware but has turf-sprinted successfully in the past.
My Best Pal Red...In from Penn Nat to run a decent second in a similar event here on 8/2.
Coronation Day...AE list. Nice closing kick.
Straight Romance.
Close to the Vest.
Pewter.
On dirt: Pewter, Aquino, Regal Prince, Pygmalion, Close to the Vest, Five Towns.
NINTH RACE
New York Kitten...A number of these come out of the same 8/1 race - and the closing kick shown by some might indicate that that race just fell apart, making it tough to decide just how legit the results are. But, there aren't particularly any better options so we'll take things at face-value and hope that this gal can continue to improve in her third start - and without trouble.
I Dreamt I Was...Just behind the top pick in that race.
Considerate...Yet another out of that 8/1 race - and this filly beat the top two, but hard too rate two highly on the 0-9 record.
Notell.
On dirt: Same, add My Honey Laurie, Fastish underneath.
TENTH RACE
Street Chimes...Has some breeding and a trainer who gets them ready early.
Tapit Dancer...Same scenario as top choice.
Tiz My Time...Shipped to UK for the prestigious Royal Ascot meet and ran third in a G3 in a field of 22. 6-5 ML fave and that Brit race will garner plenty of attention - but this is first since the return and first around two turns, so there are questions to answer.
Fancy Point.
On dirt: Bangzoomtothemoon, Empress of Gold, Street Chimes, Tapit Dancer, Tiz My Time.
