2-10. Winners in the 5th [$7.30] and 9th [$4.00]. Also, in the 3rd it was a C-B-A finish for a very generous exacta [$340.50/$2] and tri [$946.00]. A C-A exacta in the 4th [$10.20]. In the 9th, the co-featured G1 Vanderbilt it was a cold exacta [$15.20] and tri [$36.00]. And in the 10th it was a B-D-A finish for the exacta [$114.50] and tri [$380.00].
Announced attendance was 43.505 - but that number was bumped up a bit by the spinners chasing ballcap giveaway glory. But it was a legitimately good-sized crowd on still one more very nice afternoon. Sunny and warm.
FIRST RACE
Cozy Lion...Been going well although the last two probably warrant the drop in class to shop for a winning spot.
Sharif Al Medina...Beyers have been moving in the right direction and it looks like he's found his comfort zone.
Risque...Off awhile and when last seen was a troubled seventh on this track, at this level. Dangerous if able to fire best shot off the layoff.
Key Victory.
On dirt: WW's Lady's Man, Callide Valley, The Peloton, Dixie Nite Out, Bear's Rocket, Fairway Tom.
SECOND RACE
Elusive Tara/Forest Whip...Elusive Tara preferred on the second-start for Asmussen angle. Also, comes out of what might be a key race.
Niji's Grand Girl...We like Candy Ride as a precocious sire. And McPeek can have them ready to roll.
Dixie Julep...Trainer's been sending them out with all systems on 'go'.
Street Mate.
Aguadilla.
THIRD RACE
Dubai Dancer...Full-sib to winner of 2008 G1 Ashland, Little Belle. Won't be shocked to see improved effort off of the layoff.
Arena Elvira...Likely fave had trouble in debut and still ran well.
Kinkora...Showed a little life in the first try.
Atavistique.
FOURTH RACE
Annawon...Sixth in a salty MSW in debut effort last year. Off since. Expect better today.
Touch of Silver...Should benefit from the first-out education.
Unprecedented...Shown some life in the last couple.
Bigshot.
Joshua Reynolds.
On dirt: Same, add Boisterous underneath.
FIFTH RACE - Waya $70K
Changing Skies...Graded-stakes winner going a distance of ground. Hasn't missed an exacta since arriving stateside.
Casablanca Smile...Big try in N American debut - but we're always leery of these S American shippers.
Gold d'Oro...Has shown a liking for this grass.
Ballynoe.
On dirt: Katara, Million Seller, Gold d'Oro, Ballynoe.
SIXTH RACE
Redefined...Looks to be a repeat winner at the meet.
Hot Money...Went well at the Belmont meet but trainer still chilly at the Spa.
Strong Impact...Capable on best effort.
Vose the Host.
On dirt: Ziptronic, Vose the Host, Cayo Hueso, Goodandacceptable.
SEVENTH RACE
Western Tease...Shipper might get slightly overlooked because of his out-of-town roots -- but it's hard to disregard the undefeated record.
Caixa Eletronica...Comes out of two decent efforts in small stakes.
Cavallo Pazzo...Should fit with these.
Independence War.
EIGHTH RACE
Babai Baby...Kind of rolling the dice here. Nice debut win on this track last year then was perhaps ambitiously-placed. Off since Sept but working well for return. Hmm.
The Underling...Has fired the best Beyers of this bunch - but didn't show an affinity for this track in 2009.
Speckledbird...Needs to step it up - but just might in the 3YO debut.
Biz Jet.
NINTH RACE
Ginger Snapit...Some win-early breeding and win-early connections that are going well at the meet with youngsters.
Higher Desire...Also win-early things to like.
Watkins Glen...And a similar scenario here. Must get in from AE list.
Miss Grievance.
Favorite Note.
