Don't forget to check out the Challenge page where we started the month with a mythical $1000 bankroll and attempt to increase that amount as the Saratoga season continues.

Yesterday

Winners in the 2nd [$3.10], 7th [$2.60] and 8th [$7.40]. It was frustrating though as we zigged and the betting public zagged for much of the afternoon and our "B" selection [the second pick] won four other races. Otherwise, it was a B-C exacta in the 1st [$47.40/$2]. In the 2nd A-C-D for the exacta [$13.80] and tri $57.00]. And in the 8th an A-C exacta [$21.60].

14,631 attended. Tuesday night's rain - rather than cooling things off - actually seemed to feed into the humidity and it was steamy-hot on Wednesday. Sunny and sticky.

Today

The weekly $100K guaranteed P6.

FIRST RACE - Smithwick Mem Steeplechase G2 $75K
Slip Away...Might try to live up to his name.
Arcadius...Sheppard trainee is usually in the hunt.
Planets Aligned...Third in this race last year.
The Price of Love/Divine Fortune.

SECOND RACE
Gangsterontherun...Scratched as our top pick on Monday. Worked a speedy 3F that day in prep for this. Win-early breeding and connections. Tight call amongst a slaty bunch.
Skylord...Attracted over half a mil after working 10.2 at 2YO sale.
Saucy Stacy...Also worked in 10.2 before being sold earlier this year.
Halo Doctor Joe.

THIRD RACE - Morrissey $70K
Driven by Success...Caught late in this very same race last year. Seems to be coming into this edition in even better form.
Endless Circle...One of the first wheelbacks of the meet. Had a win-streak snapped here on 7/26 - but still ran very well.
Law Enforcement...The upsetter in this event in 2009. Doesn't seem quite as sharp this season but does return to the scene of the crime.
Legal Consent.

FOURTH RACE
Delano...Solid in debut win and flatter when place-getter came back to win here on Wednesday.
Manhattan Fox...Has some closing punch - but not quite sure this is a distance he'll like.
Academy Run...Hard to ignore that 8/1 bullet work.
Moon Ala Mode.
On dirt: Delano, Capt Obvious,Jazzy Johann, Ezzy, China.

FIFTH RACE
Inflation Hedge...Connections have traditionally done well here with firsters. Worked 10.1 before $325K sale in March.
Cedar Grove...Love Speightstown on top.
Simply Delightful...Another by Speightstown.
Elusive Raven.

SIXTH RACE
Macedonian...Seems to have come alive on the ultra-stretchout.
Antrim Shield...Clement is a little chilly at the meet so far.
Indianapolis...Looked good in two earlier turf tries.
Seeking the Sluice.

SEVENTH RACE
Sensationalist...Has some solid win-early breeding. That he's starting for only $20K is a bit of a concern.
Trust of Honor...Has some early speed, which could be dangerous - but a few others look to challenge.
Knead the Dough...A 'fresh face' isn't necessarily a bad thing in this field.
Starr West.
Reign of Kings.

EIGHTH RACE
Sr Henry...Off quite a while but if he comes back ready to run he fits here.
Brother Nick...Could try to steal this.
Veiled Prophet...AE list. Nice closing kick.
Lemon Spice.
Summer Patriot.
On dirt: Birdrun, Atomic Rain, Eye of the Leopard, Tranquil Manor, Brother Nick, Sr Henry.

NINTH RACE - Latham $70K
Westover Wildcat...Has faced some good ones in stakes competition. Grass is the question mark.
Dazzled Saint...High speed from the rail. Another trying turf for the first time.
Don't Say no...Last was a scorcher.
Bridgetown.
Flamin' Hot.
On dirt: Same but add Enumerate underneath.

TENTH RACE
Flask...Two sprints to a route angle.
Settling Seas...The one to catch?
Spring Elusion...Linda Rice - trying to turf for the first time. Will he try to steal it like yesterday's Rice runner?
Such Time As This.
On dirt: Flask, Spring Elusion, Annual appeal, Conga Belle.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halves are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
