29,697 attended - numbers were spinner-inflated due to the unusual, but successful mid-week T-shirt giveaway. Reports were that the T-shirt coupons were all gone prior to the 1st race. The crowd enjoyed a lazy summer afternoon - sunny with warm temps and slight humidity.
Twilight racing: First post 2:30pm. t's also College Day with scholarship giveaways. Also scheduled - a post-race "block party" just outside the clubhouse entrance.
FIRST RACE
Unaccountable...Area native trainer is off to a good start at the meet and seems to have this one well-placed.
King Carter...Showed some speed in first start of 2010 and might be primed for better off of that effort.
Stream of Gold...Has some serious back-class but has raced sparingly over the past two seasons and it's a roll of the dice how the 9YO will perform here.
Eldoktori.
On dirt: Old Man Buck, JJs Prophet, Slamm'n Lou, Unaccountable.
SECOND RACE
Song of Broadway...Has some breeding and might benefit from the move in for a tag.
Holdme Kaz...Sire's fairly new but a little bit interesting. 7-pound apprentice takes away from the appeal somewhat however.
Moshe Diane...First two starts weren't bad.
Pearl River.
THIRD RACE
Film Charm...Toss the turf experiment and this one is in the every time. Ran well here last season.
Persistently...Will be rolling late -- but might be too late in this short field.
Tizahit.
FOURTH RACE
Letshootpool...Purchased for just under $100k at 2YO sale where shoe worked in 20.2.
Ravingaboutkitten...Has some win-early breeding.
Chalk Player...Another that's bred to get it done sooner rather than later - but trainer doesn't typically have them cranked up first time.
Encryption Code.
Silky Me.
On dirt: Spa City Lover - then use turf horses above, in order,m underneath.
FIFTH RACE
Diva in Training...Trainer has continued to be hot at this meet. This one fits at this level.
Hollywood Hills...Might have a slight class-edge here.
Hot and Bothered...Plenty of speed -- but she's not the only one in this field.
Rock Hall Honey.
SIXTH RACE
Artisnal...A Pletcher well-bred firster. Will we really get that 5-1 morning line price?
Erma Lee...Another that intrigues for a breeding perspective with Stormy Atlantic on top - but trainer doesn't typically win with debut runners.
Puzzling...Interesting stats with this sire - of 47 first time starters over the past year, only one has won... But ten others ran second!
Mayday Maria.
A Brilliant Idea.
Arch Support.
On dirt: Same.
SEVENTH RACE - Fleet Indian $70K
Wicked Diva...Big improvement in the comeback from a short layoff. If she can step forward again she could prove tough here.
Meese Rocks...Another making second start off of a layoff and went well in the comebacker.
Sweet Lorena/Lovely Daniella...Sweet Lorena would probably rank as the top pick but it looks like she fires better number on the synthetics. Still, she should prove interesting coming out of the Presque Isle efforts.
Weathered.
EIGHTH RACE
Precision Farming...It's Linda Rice with a turf sprinter. But will need some help getting in off of the AE list.
Carmen's Kiss...Looks like a good fit here.
Ride On Josephine...Takes a half-step down the claiming ladder and she actually might be better on turf. Dangerous.
Little Miss Julien.
Bobbi O.
NINTH RACE
Person of Interest...Just broke maiden but finds a cozy spot to try winners.
Soldier Field...Finds some serious class-relief in here. AE list.
Cullinan...Should be heard from in the lane.
Bishop of Nola.
Lion Under Oath.
