We start the 2009 Saratoga thoroughbred race meet with a mythical bankroll of $1000. Each day we'll use this space to record our mythical best bets and calculate the accumulated wins and losses.

Yesterday...

Our plays for the day obviously keyed on the potential Sheppard Special in the 6th, Sobee. That one was 12-1 on the ML and we were shocked -- and disappointed -- to see her open at 7-2 and eventually settle at 5-1. The play became far less attractive at those odds -- and really became unattractive as she never really offered much hope at any point in the race.
