The Daily Gaztte's [Schenectady, NY] Mark Cusano has sprinted out to the lead at the mid-point with a solid 58 winners on top [including a nice call on 14-1 Top Lass on Monday's card].
Last year at this time a trio from the NY Daily News sat atop the leaderboard and that tabloid is well-represented again with two of the top three slots. In fourth is Kyle Brownell -- sitting in a stalking position, close enough to remain in contention to gain the season-end crown again after winning the title in 2006.
You can view the entire 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2004 mid-season scorecards for a more complete comparison of previous years.
And to see what kind of numbers everyone is chasing, final meet totals for the past few seasons can be found here: 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004 and 2003.
As for our own numbers -- we always shoot to hit the century-mark by meet's-end and with 49 winners Best Bets is on pace.Best Bets is clearly in come-from-behind mode. Let's hope for a strong finish!
Note: Discrepancies in total number of races played is due to some handicappers losing races due to scratches.
