1-11. One measly winner on top [7th, $9.30] -- but, much like perhaps two or three other days this season, we had our second selection shine, winning five other races. Frustrating for us however in the winners-on-top scorecard category.
Over on the Bankroll Challenge page we put together a 'budget' Pick six ticket, costing only $24 -- which had to give folks a brief thrill. We were still alive after four -- but couldn't get home the winners of the last two, obvisouly missing out on the P6 jackpot, but also the conso. Fun while it last though. And the sequence did provide a couple of generous P3s dipping no deeper than our second selection. Also, a flip-flopped exacta for us in the 9th [$39.20/$2] and our third pick completed the tri [$87.50].
20,132 attended another nice day weather-wise.
FIRST RACE
Driven by Success...Improved with move to Levine barn. Looks capable of repeating.
Bazzoom...Was facing open company in California. Should improve off of first start vs state-breds.
Borrowing Limit...Got some education at this level last time.
Dazzling Derek.
SECOND RACE
Noble Action...Hook and Ladder firsters can come out running.
Five Star Chowdair...Has one under her belt and can build on that.
La Concerto...Connections like to win early.
Brockly Rob.
THIRD RACE
Successful Mission...Might get some value here off of the fade-job last time -- but wouldn't be shocked to see marked improvement.
Regal Ransom...Attracted big price at 2YO sale afer working in 10.1. Sib to a 2YO winner in England.
Lord Justice/Forest Bell...Pletcher trained entry should be live first-out of the box.
Golden Jungle/Brave Victory.
FOURTH RACE - The Vichy $80K
Goodday...Interesting. NY-bred was running well against high-priced open maiden claimers in SoCal. Now goes first time for Dutrow. Bullet work five days ago.
Stunning Electra...Solid improvement shown winning second career start.
Akilina...Also moved forward in maiden-breaker.
Hookin the goods.
FIFTH RACE
Jordan's Song...Trainer can have them ready.
Lovamor/Miss Seduction...Trainer does OK going long on turf in first start.
Total Joy...Expect improvement.
Officer Flirt.
SIXTH RACE
Princess Westly...Showed a little bit of life when dropped to this level last time.
Empress Indy...Came from out of the clouds to run second last time. Adds blinkers today.
High Draw...Also came from far back to just miss -- and overcame some trouble.
Lightintheforest.
SEVENTH RACE
Pioneerof the Nile...Capable of getting the job done today with some slight second-start improvement.
Hype/Swinging Bertie...As noted earlier, Pletcher OK going long on turf in first starts.
Lime Rickey...First two have shown some promise.
Unbridle's Dream.
EIGHTH RACE
Monsooned Malabar...Ran OK in a similar race last time. Should have some pace to shoot at.
Allaboutmack...AE lister. Prefer that he shows closing style from two back.
Pay What You Owe...Could be interesting on the drop into a claimer.
Beyond the Trees.
NINTH RACE - Saratoga Dew $80K
Ice Cool Kitty...Tossed some Beyers last year that would take this and could be primed to get back to those now going long off of two sprints.
Talking Treasure...Also stretching out after a couple of good sprints.
Morning Gallop...Split the top two [they ran 1-3 in reverse order from the way we have them listed today] in a small stake here last time.
Raffie's Treasure.
TENTH RACE
Kulka...MSW starts have been OK. Eligible to wake-up on the drop.
Ultimate Event...Also dropping in for a tag -- although not for the first time.
Qualquin...And yet another making the potent MSW to mdn clm move.
Why West.
Flashbulb Breeze.
Alyssa Givonna.
