Yesterday

No racing. Dark day.

The Fasig-Tipton yearling sales completed with Day Two on Tuesday night. Highlight of the sale was a $2.2 mil purchase by Barry Irwin of a Mr Greeley colt.

Today

FIRST RACE
Holy Kryptonite...In a wide-open race this gal gets a slight nod on the move from state-bred alw ranks into an open conditional claimer.
Are We Dreamin...Dropped to this level last time and just missed.
Go Michelle...Last couple were promising. Maybe she's turned the corner.
Raisin' Silver.

SECOND RACE
Sam's Passion...Firster from Zito. Works are OK. Dam is a full-sib to Prime Meridian, winner of '98 G3 Cal Derby. And she's produced some winners.
Maimonides...$4.6 mil yearling buy. Working well for win-early connections. Concerns though -- owner shipped out of Del Mar due to dissatisfaction with the synthetic surface. So this guy has made a cross-country trip and was pointing towards a start in the SoCal condition book as opposed to here. Will calling the audible work out?
Moral Compass...Sire is Ok with debuters. This one worked in 22.2 prior to 2YO sale.
Grand Minstrel.

THIRD RACE
Memphis Mon/Reverberate entry...Reverberate preferred. Showed some promise as a 3YO in 2005. Ran second to Flower Alley in the G2 Jim Dandy on this track. Third start of 2007.
Ampelio...A decent third behind Silver Tree on the turf in US debut. Has run well on the dirt in Dubai.
Dubai Gold...Can contend if he gives his best.
Crossword.

FOURTH RACE
Sew Slippery...Half-sib to Bengal Lore and that one was stakes-placed as a 2YO. Nice bullet work in prep for this.
La Ransom...Experience counts and this one showed some nice improvement in start #2.
Canadian Ballet...Full-sis Vasa won her debut.
Beam of Love.

FIFTH RACE
Queen Amira...Might appreciate this company after having a steady stakes diet since springtime.
Zaynab...Third start of the season and she could be ready to pop a good one.
Willshefire...Plenty of early foot.
Jilli's Cape.
Recapture.
On dirt: Pennyrile, Wee Bit Fancy, Ok to Pay, Half Time Crown.

SIXTH RACE
Cherokee Speed...With some 'name' trainers in here more known for getting debut winners this colt might sneak in under the radar. Attracted $150K at a 2YO sale where he worked in 10.4 and 10.2. Also like the bullet on 6/30, best of forty-nine.
Z Humor...Distorted Humor's are usually ready to run and the trainer is off to a big start at the meet.
Pick Off...Bullet work on 7/23 for Zito.
Ready's Echo.

SEVENTH RACE
Harvest Lisa...In a very tough race this filly gets the nod on the current good form, including a win last time in an open $40K claimer which was probably better than this group.
Wakeup with Makeup...Beaten by top pick last time -- and claimed. Plenty of early foot.
Southern Sass...Another that will be on the engine from the get-go.
Dressed to Win.

EIGHTH RACE - NY Stallion/Can Calloway
Get Serious...A decent second behind the promising First Defence when stretched to two turns in the Long Branch. Now moves in against restricted company. Only question mark is the grass.
Thunderestimate...On the other hand, this one is a proven turf commodity. Solid and improving in four lifetime starts.
Contessa entry...Stunt Man preferred. Already been right there in a few state-bred stakes. Like top pick he's new to the surface.
Good Prospect.
On dirt: Stunt Man, Get Serious, Stud Muffin, Dr V's Magic, Good Prospect.

NINTH RACE
Mizzenkey...Numbers are improving. Probably has enough speed against this bunch to get some decent position early despite the inside post.
Wicked Queen...AE lister. Inconsistent but capable on best effort.
That's Good...AE lister. Clearly prefers the turf.
Jetastik.
Lady Rizzi.
Sort of Tricky.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way [in other words, both halve are named]. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed [rather than the other half of the entry] in event of a scratch.
