No racing. It was too hot! According to a NYRA press release, "Records indicate that, since the advent of mutuels in 1940, no entire Saratoga card was cancelled."... Until Wednesday.
The weather forecast is calling for some afternoon T-storms.
FIRST RACE
Fra Diavolo...Showed some talent on the flat in SoCal. Now seems to have gotten the hang of the jump game.
Gigger...Another that was running well in flat races fairly recently.
Hawk Hill...Three nice jump wins in four tries this season.
Best Attack.
SECOND RACE
Cherokee Sheik...Landed in the top half of the field in debut despite trouble. Eligible to improve.
Seaside Affair...Solid debut. Now goes out for Frankel.
Dance Band...Speed before fading last time. Cuts back half a furlong today.
Hatta Flower.
THIRD RACE
Frankel entry...Indian Flare preferred. Has yet to miss the board and won big last time she tried 7F. Lady Pegasus might be interesting on the cutback and going turf-to-dirt.
Platinee ...Second start of the year and is cutting back after showing some speed last time.
Unkatzable...Seems to be rounding into good form.
Pleasant Laughter.
FOURTH RACE
Yes I May...Could offer some value. Needs to bump up the Beyers -- but note the big jump-up when she arrived here last year. Similar improvement puts her in the hunt today.
Token...Looks like she's still trying to figure it out but is capable on best effort.
Summer Palace...Funny campaign last year. Dud in troubled grass debut. Big win in follow-up on dirt. Then faltered in a stake. Off since October but returns for Pletcher and that MSW win makes her dangerous.
Her Royal Nibs.
FIFTH RACE
Summer Service...Third to the talented Weigelia last time. Third in the tough G3 Jaipur prior to that. Might find this bunch easier.
Thatsmorelikeit...Last two make it look like turf sprinting is his game.
Museeb...Could be ready to pop a good try.
Ever a Friend.
Theconfidencman.
On dirt: Ever a Friend, Calypso Band, El Prado Rob, Titled.
SIXTH RACE
Chunk of Love...30% trainer ships in from Delaware. Horse wasn't won this year but has been on the board in 6-of-7. Closing punch could be useful here.
Itsayatesthing... Will try to clear from the outside -- but there's other speed to contend with.
Slew Proud...Also likely to show some early foot.
Bless My Mary.
SEVENTH RACE
Back Bay Baron...Improving. Ran best yet last time and a repeat would take this.
Time to Grow Up... Has enough speed to get some position from the rail. Has won three of his last four.
Clear the Way...Won the last three times he was in for a tag. Albeit, a little cheaper.
Suave Jazz.
EIGHTH RACE - NY Stallion/State of Liberty $150K
My Interpretation...Best efforts seems to have come on turf. Fired lifetime best Beyers in only 3YO starts so could be ready to move forward. Likes this track.
Artistic Express...We'll know more after this one but the big win last time might indicate she's a real turf monster.
Peg's Prayer...Beyers seem to be going the wrong way but there should be some early pace for her to shoot at today. Ran well here in 2005.
Gone Goodbye.
On dirt: Gone Goodbye, Artistic Express, Magic Momentum, No Reason, My Interpretation.
NINTH RACE
Dorothy's Destiny...Clearly will need to improve -- but looks capable of doing just that in her third start.
Tomorrow's Nano...Another that has the look of a lightly raced 3YO that can step it up in here.
One Traveler...Has improved with every start.
Daybeforeher B'day.
On dirt: Lady Rizzi, Tomorrow's Nano, Daybeforeher B'Day, One Traveler, Dorothy's Destiny, Karakorum Ella.
