Yesterday

1-9. A little bit of a struggle to end Week One. Only one winner on top [3rd, $5.50]. Had the $16.80/$2 cold exacta in that race. In the 5th our top two reversed for the $25.00/$2 exacta.

There was plenty of elbow room on-track with only 12,054 attending. The nmubers have seemed light over the past fews days and it will be interesting to see if tha trend continues into Week Two. Has it been the weather -- which has been oppressively hot and humid, and occasionally stormy -- or are gas prices perhaps a factor? The weather Monday wasn't bad, sunny, but still a little more hot and humid than could be considered comfortable.

Have to give the gold-star performance of the day to jockey Kent Desormeaux. He brought home two winners -- at odds of 32-1 and 43-1!
