Otherwise it was kind of a strange hit-or-miss day. We started things by just getting nipped at Aqueduct as 7-2 Naughty New Yorker closed well by came up a tad short. We moved on to a nice score at Gulfstream as our top three combined for the tri in the Appleton. But we ran a frustrating 1-2-4 in the next stake from Florida. Moving over to Fair Grounds, we were zapped in the turf sprint -- those races are always the bane of our handicapping existence. Followed that up with a struggling nothing in the 3YO filly stake. But then managed to get our top four over the finish line first in the Mineshaft. So we collected some nice gimmicks there. But we ended our day in Louisiana by running a frustrating first and third with a 10-1 and 6-1 in the Risen Star. And exacta there had the potential to amke the idfference between winning and losing on the day.
Finally it was out to SoCal where we had the top three in the La Canada -- but we made a stand in the short five-horse field and so we didn't collect. In the finale we keyed on Pussycat Doll so weren't alive after the scratch, although our move-up top choice gave us our winner on top on the day.
A couple of nice scores and a couple of close calls -- one of those days.

Naughty New Yorker...Showing some nice Beyer improvement and was a solid second last time in first try against open company.
Galloping Grocer...Clearly the one to beat off of his first three big wins and then a just-miss behind Rockport Harbor in the G2 Remsen. Question is, will he be revved up for top effort first time off the layoff.
Scrappy T...Beat top pick in Count Fleet last time and could prove tough again today but outside post will make him work early to get position.
