Yesterday

2-9. The last dew days have been very competitive. We managed two nice winners on top (3rd, $11.40; 5th, $8.80).

On-track, 19,531 turned out. There were some big, menacing clouds alternating with the sun all afternoon and it even sprinkled very, very briefly as the horses came into the paddock for the feature. But overall it was nice with temps being cooler than most of the rest of the meet -- but comfortable.

Today

Like the last few days, this is yet another card that looks very contentious throughout.

FIRST RACE
Tomorrows Dance...We always like the angle of stretching out after two sprints and this gal's debut seemed to indicate some promise.
Contenders Emotion...Nice, improving form in three starts off the layoff.
Fiddlers Star...Came into last with improving form than Beyer regressed a little -- but might go better with a run over the track.
Stag Dancer.

SECOND RACE
Grecian Wings...Lightly raced. Third start off a brief layoff. Claimed out of win here on 8/18. Stretches off of sprints. Some questions marks but has a nice turf sire and might be ready for this assignment off one week's rest.
Doctorinthenews...Colsed nice to miss by less than two lengths last time despite trouble. Claimed and gets big jock switch.
Retroesque...Won a maiden claimer last time so this is a big step up -- but really seemed to improve with move to turf.
Quick Queen.

THIRD RACE
Bredwinner...Kind of a hinky pick as this guy seems to like the bridesmaid position -- but just missed last time so maybe he'll go better with that experience over the track.
Nolan's Cat...G1-placed maiden should appreciate return to dirt.
Sir Halory...Ran third off long layoff last time. Winner was stablemate -- and full-bro to Ghostzapper. Could be primed to go well today.
Preach by Day.

FOURTH RACE
Changing Weather...Win-early connections purchased this one earlier this year. Working well.
Guns Drawn...Another 2YO sales purchase. Shows a couple promising works.
Tyler's Way...And yet another 2YO sale purchase working well.
Disco's Sun.
Antrim County.

FIFTH RACE
Angliana...Like the nice, improving form since stepping foot on turf. Also like that he's been the distance. Probably needs to move forward again but looks capable.
Fishy Advice...Another showing good improvement over last few starts. Just missed in Gulfstream stake two back.
Mumble Jumble...Usually in the hunt.
Run the Light.
Shredded.

SIXTH RACE
Fiddlers Pleasure...Beyers look best in this field and might get over the hump with switch to Dominguez who is riding well the last few days.
Dancy's Angel...Just missed last time in first try -- despite trouble.
Garden Party...Trainer can have them ready to go two-turns off the bench.
Keen Lassie.

SEVENTH RACE
Taittinger Rose...Solid stakes performer last year. Came back from vacation to run an OK fourth in $100K stake. Should be set-up to go well in here.
Saintliness...Started career going 5-5. Faltered in a couple of tough G2s. Should appreciate a little class-relief.
Bohemian Lady...Clearly capable on best.
He Loves Me.

EIGHTH RACE -- Victory Ride $75K
Reunited...Really went back and forth in here but just couldn't get past this one. Last was just too good on this track and at this trip to ignore.
Burnish...We felt she was a budding star and used her on top in the G1 Prioress -- and she flopped. Still find her very scary -- but it is worth noting that two best races were on off tracks.
Maddalena...Another that looked like something special early in her career. Like Burnish she's dangerous if able to recapture best form.
Hot Storm.

NINTH RACE
Quick One...Beyers look tops in this bunch -- but those were on dirt. Tough if able to duplicate form on grass.
Indelible Image...Unknown at this sprint trip on grass but plenty of decent turf form going longer -- mostly while showing good early speed.
Graceful Pro...Seems to be on the imrpove. Another mostly unknown quantity on turf -- but shows a good grass work on 8/17.
Vertical Storm.

If we are interested in both halves of an entry -- in event of a scratch -- it is noted that way. If only one-half of the entry is named, then we prefer that half and will move to our next pick listed in event of a scratch.
