Yesterday

2-9. We might have been able to end the laments about the high-percentage of winning favorites with this one card! Two favorites scored in nine races -- otherwise winning prices were: $71.50, $35.40, $33.20, $25.60, $16.00, $15.00, and $11.00. We managed to have the two winning favorites on a day that actually looked like it was going to shape up to be quite chalky (3rd, $4.20; 7th, $3.30). We had a few of the other winners in our mix -- but some of them would have been difficult to come up with. For instance, Lapis, the 11-1 winner of the feature, showed one win and one third-place finish over the past two seasons -- and really looked up against it. But a speed duel up front and a tiring stretch set it up for an improbable closing run. Sometimes that's just the way it works out. We'll take our two on top and move on...

On-track, a solid Monday crowd of 16,818 enjoyed a day that saw a mix of sun and clouds but overall was quite pleasant.
